Our Story, In memory of Charlie John Paget.
Every single day in the UK 17 babies are stillborn.
On the 2nd February 2017 we received the most devastating news that was to run our lives upside down. I had a perfectly normal pregnancy up to 40 weeks. We were very excited to start our little family, for once in our lives everything seemed to be fitting into place.
I wasn't due to see the midwife for another week, so I gave them a ring to see if they could fit me in just to re-assure me that everything was okay, Mothers instinct !!!!!
Chris came and picked me up and we were sent over to Stoke Mandeville for an ultra sound, the longest car journey of our lives as panic was kicking in.
An ultra sound confirmed our baby had no heart beat.
It's the most surreal, shattering, heart breaking pain that words can't even describe.
We were told I would have to be induced into labour to give birth. Later on that night on the 3rd of February I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Charlie John Paget, he was perfect, cute beyond words.
We cuddled him, bathed and dressed him, loved him. To hold him in our arms and have to say goodbye, and come home without him was heart breaking.
Charlie used a "cold cot" (cuddle cot). It's a specialised piece of equipment that is designed to keep a baby cool, so parents and family can spend that much needed time with their babies. As a family we were so grateful of this.
Stoke Mandeville only has one of these, and we would like to raise the money to supply them with another cold cot (cuddle cot).
All the staff at Stoke Mandeville were so good to us, and we would like to be able to give something back and help other families.
