We empower families with disabled children to give their child the best start in life

Story

I am a trustee of Footprints Conductive Education Centre and a clinical negligence solicitor. I found out about Conductive Education (CE) in the 1980's when I represented children with cerebral palsy. Over the last 30 years, I have seen many of my  clients thrive with the support of CE. There is nothing else like it in the UK. Clients have been able to stand and take steps which is so empowering for them. The CE approach can be used throughout the child's life and into adulthood so they can truly maximise their potential. It helps with speech, confidence and upper limb development as well.

Visiting the premises of FootprintsCEC in Nottingham is inspirational. The staff give everything to help the children but, most importantly, they also support parents and carers. Unlike most therapies in the UK, CE involves all the family who continue the programme at home. Parents and carers have told me they would not have been able to keep going without FootprintsCEC.

In these unprecedented times, staff are continuing to support children and families with remote CE programmes. However, our ability to fundraise to meet these needs has been severely restricted. We are just one of hundreds of charities in this position.

Please can you sign up to my quiz night on Thursday 8th May. I am hoping for 26 households to each pay at least £10 so  I can raise a minimum £260. If you do not want to join in the quiz, please think about donating whatever you can afford.

I will email details for the quiz separately- it will be promoted on my facebook page so you can message your details to me.
