Story
My walk is for Cyrenians local projects.
Homeless Charity in Scotland | Cyrenians
Cyrenians work to tackle the causes and consequences of homelessness. There are 32 projects in Edinburgh and the Lothians and many more Scotland wide. These include residential communities, a FareShare depot; outreach teams, employability courses; mediation and support work; befriending services, housing for young unaccompanied refugees, and a range of garden and land based work in community gardens (including the wonderful community garden in the grounds of the Royal Edinburgh Hospital) and a farm in West Lothian.
I am just doing the short walk of just 4 miles as I get sore hips walking on pavements/hard flat ground, and the next day I go away and need to be able to walk and run. Next year I will do the medium walk of 14 miles.
Part of my inspiration to do this was as my first job was with a Cyrenians Project back in about 1976. The need for a safe home has been central to my awareness and too many folk are without that.
