Story
Erin McNair and Alison Grundy are Midwives based in the Central Delivery Suite/Triage area of Doncaster Royal Infirmary. Together they have taken on the challenge to run the Doncaster 10k 2021 in order to raise funds towards the Maternity Bereavement Service.
All contributions would go towards a much needed new maternity bereavement suite which in turn would enhance the bereavement services we are able to provide.
This run takes place on November 28th 2021 in which each km ran they hope to highlight the importance and comfort the new suite would bring to the mothers and families who sadly experience pregnancy loss. The new suite would enhance the time and privacy needed for these women and families during an extremely difficult time.
The Bereavement suite appeal will allow us to create a shielded, peaceful environment in which bereaved parents and their families are able to have the opportunity to create precious memories with their baby in their own time. Currently these bereaved parents must say goodbye to their little one on the central delivery suite of Doncaster among other women who can be heard along the unit giving birth and the anticipated newborn cries that are longed for with each birth.
The Midwives of Doncaster are amazing at supporting these women and families during their time of need but an improved bereavement suite in the hospital would significantly improve the level of service we are able to deliver in what is a devastating time in their lives. For these women, the memories will be everlasting and its important we can make these as comfortable and precious as possible.
The run incurred registration costs of which Erin and Alison have generously paid personally so that all funds raised will solely go towards and support the maternity bereavement appeal.
Whether it is a small donation or a large cheque, every pound and penny you give enables us to achieve our vision.
