A donation from you for Refugee Support will make the blisters I'll inevitably get walking 100km worth it! I promise pictures so you can smile while you fetch your dosh to donate. Here's a bit about why I'm doing this - they are an awesome organisation and bunch of people.
Refugee Support have worked in Greece, Bangladesh and Mexico and currently run a Dignity Centre in Nicosia. They set up the Centre 2 years ago to fill a need for new arrivals trying to settle in Cyprus.
They run language classes, computer literacy, a food bank, hygiene services, a barbers, cv writing, office support, sports events and the jewel in the crown – a sewing cooperative.
It’s a place where people can receive a warm welcome, learn new skills and critically have a place they can call their own.
Covid-19 has been disastrous for their fundraising but amazingly they kept going throughout responding to what people need and recently encouraging people to get vaccinated.
Your donation gives a refugee family something extra – a little of their dignity back.Your donation will provide them with fresh and enjoyable food, much needed clothing and important activities to help them now and in their futures.
But *how* Refugee Support do things is just as important as *what* they do. They do it in a way that puts dignity and normality first. As a a small and independent charity, all of your donation goes where it is most needed. And it gets there quickly.
Refugee Support is also now a Lead Host for the amazing Community Support programme which supports community groups who welcome and support refugee families into their communities.
