Heart Link, was originally formed as a support group for parents and families who have a child suffering from a heart defect. Since 1981 we have collected over £4 million pounds. This has been used to fund projects large and small. Thank you for supporting us!

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Why have we chosen this charity?

22.9.2013 - Ava Jean was born weighing 8lbs, all seemed well until:

8.10.2013 - Our health visitor was slightly concerned about Ava's breathing, we went to the local hospital and here they discovered there was something wrong with her heart, however they couldn't say what, so we waited for a tansfer, Birmingham was full, as was Bristol, so we ended up heading for Glenfield, Leiscester, this hospital is magnificant, the staff are fabulous and whilst we waited for news of what was wrong with Ava, Heartlink were already helping, by providing the equipment for us to stay (they ensure the rooms are comfortable and provide the basics a bed and some cupboards.), we found out that Ava had TGA (transpostion of the greater arteries). The rooms provided by heartlink cost us nothing and were comfortable, just round the corner from PICU unit, so we were as near as possible to our daughter, the accommodation was provided for both us and they also stocked up the kitchen with teas and coffee! Whilst this may not seem like a miracle, it allowed us to not have any worries other than for our daughter and allowed us to be right there for her. The charity regularly have meetings where you can lean on people for support and they organise events to allow this to continue throughout thier young lives. The charity also raise money to fund equipment for the hospital.

We are getting married on the 5th April 2014 , instead of having a gift list we ask that you donate your money to this worthwhile cause, the money goes to help parents, it helps you whilst the rest of your world is crashing down! Allowing us to have time with our daughter, which at the time we didn't know if we would be coming back home with her or not! Lucky for us, medical science is amazing and thanks to the expertise of surgeons and nursing staff, Ava has made a full recovery, whilst she will remain to have check ups on her heart for the rest of her life and a scar to prove it! She is fit and well and basking in the limelight she recieves, she is our special girl.

all our love and thanks
