The CJD Support Network offers advice, information and support for patients, carers and professionals involved in any form of suspected or confirmed CJD. We offer emotional and practical support; disseminate new information as research develops and offer advice for those who may be deemed at risk.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. At the end of September I will be attempting to run the Nottingham Marathon and would like to use this opportunity to raise some much needed money for the CJD Support Network.

CJD is an illness which I knew very little about 15 months ago. Since then it's impact on my family has been profound. When I run at the Nottingham marathon I won't be running for a charity who are trying to cure this illness - as we found out with my mum CJD is currently untreatable. Instead I'm going to be running for a charity whose work is to provide support, help and maybe some answers for affected families when this crushing illness enters their lives.

Many of you will know that I used to do a bit of running some time ago and perhaps are thinking the marathon may not be a challenge for me .... let me tell you now that you couldn't be more wrong!! I haven't done any running training for nearly 8 years and I can assure you from my efforts so far that my body is feeling every one of those years!

So please dig deep and offer what you can. In return I can assure you I will be training hard and will give everything I can on September 29th to make my biggest running fan proud, wherever she is watching from : )

Thanks,

Ali
