Story

In September 2019 I will be cycling with my mum, sister and other supporters of Birmingham Childrens Hospital on a 3 day, 237 mile challenge to Amsterdam.Your donations will help strengthen the life-changing work performed by this incredible hospital. The funds raised will help to support innovation, development, research and world class care for the children and families in their care. I have selected for my funds to be allocated to the children's oncology department as I received a lot of my care there.

In 2009 at the age of 12 I was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in my leg. I underwent an 8 hour operation to salvage my leg and remove the cancerous bone. A further 2 days in intensive care then 2 weeks on a ward was the start of what would become a long, chequered journey. 6 months of chemotherapy, 30+ hours in theatre, over 15 scars, 3 emergency ambulance call outs, 2 life or death moments and a seizure later, I experienced all of them. 10 years on and I have been discharged from all 3 hospitals I received care and living a happy and healthy life.

The care I received at all the hospitals I visited was great but the nurses, doctors and staff on ward 15 at the Birmingham Children's hospital were outstanding. During a period of total uncertainty we had total faith that they would do everything possible to improve my odds. Unfortunately for some of the children who received care with me, they weren't as lucky and sadly did not finish their treatment.

This fundraising is not for me, it is not for sympathy and it is not for the glory of completing the challenge. It is for the children who weren't as fortunate as me and sharing my story to help raise funds is the absolute minimum that I will do. Your donations will go along way to helping a children get through what can only be described as hell on earth.

Thank You
