Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
As a tribute to George Chapman, and with the blessing of his family, I am raising funds on behalf of The British Heart Foundation through running the London Marathon next April. George’s sudden death was due to a heart attack only a few weeks after he returned to work after a heart surgery.
I hope to raise as much as possible through donations that can be made on a website that BHF have set-up on my behalf. If you would like to contribute you can easily do so by logging on to www.justgiving.com/alistairblack1 and you can also leave a message of either tribute to George - or encouragement for me! You can also donate by filling in a BHF sponsorship form located at each site reception
Thanks to All!
It's all over now and glad to say that the race went well except for a few blisters. The weather was hot and sunny and the humidity did make the final few miles painful but the crowds were out in force and really helped all the runners around the course.
I finished just under my 3 hour target and managed a place in the first 1000 finishers for the first time (949). Best of all though is that I have raised so much more than I had hoped to do any think that by the time I collect the final sponsorship money it will be nearly £4,000.
With the help of all the guys who arrnaged and played in the George Chapman Memorial Shield the final sum raised for BHF was £6,925 - a tremendous result that has surpassed all expectations!
Thank you all once again for all the support given.
