Story
Ed's sarcoma diagnosis last summer was the catalyst for me do something to support him and others not so fortunate as me. Over the years, it has been too easy to leave it to others, donate some cash and cheer them on. I hadn't done any running for the best part of five years and I have never run a half marathon. So, as I approach my 60th birthday it was about time I got out and did the hard bit myself. Given personal connections, not least Ed, I could have supported Sarcoma UK or Prostate Cancer UK, the Bath Rugby Foundation or any number of good causes because, living in Bath, there are so many worthy of support because of the amazing work they do. I found it so difficult to choose one single cause to run for so I concluded that if I had to pick one, it was hard to think of a better one than St John's Foundation. They currently distribute over £2million a year to local charities and organisations which apply on behalf of individuals who have reached a crisis point in their lives. So I am running the Half to raise money for St John's Funding Support Programme, changing people's lives for good. I know that so many good people ask you to support them in their efforts to raise funds for all manner of causes. If you can find some spare to help me do my bit for St John's I shall be so very grateful.
