In 1997 rugby teams Brive and Pontypridd were involved in a heated encounter during a cup match, which has become known as the infamous Battle of Brive.
In April, Mencap Cymru is organising a gruelling charity cycle ride between the two towns.
The money raised in the challenge will help us campaign against learning disability hate crime. Many people with a learning disability become victims of attacks, thefts and bullying. We can provide support to individuals who have experienced abuse and help them report it to the police.

The 580 mile journey will begin at Sardis road car park in Pontypridd at 9am on Saturday the 20 of April. The public are being encouraged to come along to cheer on the group as they leave. The 13 cyclists will arrive in Brive a week later in time for the team’s last home game of the season. Supporters from both sides are welcome to come along and cheer at the finish line.
Supporters who can’t come to the start can give a donation instead by texting CYCL92 £x (with the amount they can spare instead of x) to 70070 or by visiting www.justgiving.com/teams/alixpopham
