We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

So as you may have read I'm finally running (see how positive I'm being!) the Great North Run in September 2019 and the Yorkshire Marathon in October 2019!! Now some of you may be thinking "he's having a laugh? Isn't he...?"

Well for once I'm being very serious! I decided that as 2019 will be my 50th year on this planet that it's time to start "doing" and not "wishing", so yes this is happening, I must admit I did feel physically sick for several weeks but I'm over the shock now!

But why with Teenage Cancer Trust? Some of you will remember I'm not a stranger to the Charity since my good friend Sean Kelly introduced me to them. I have previously supported the charity by taking photographs of their charity runners at previous GNR's. The atmosphere was amazing and to see the runners in full flow always makes you feel like taking part! So I decided I shouldn't sit on the side lines and watch, it was time to get my trainers on and run!

The work that the Teenage Cancer Trust do is remarkable, imagine how tough it was going through our teenage years and then throw in the earth shattering news that you have cancer! Not only do you fear being different but then you fear what is the future? Teenage Cancer Trust have been providing fantastic support to young people and their families as they battle this horrible illness.

That's why I want to make a difference! As a husband, father, son and brother I want to make sure I can help in any way I can to these families. Sean has always inspired me to follow in his footsteps and in 2019 I will aim to do that!

Now in order to prepare myself to run a Half Marathon & Full Marathon I also plan to run other events in order to build up the miles in my legs. So far I started  running/jogging in August 2018 and I have completed the Couch to 5k App, a couple of Park Runs and ran for 7k as my furthest distance.

My next challenge is to progress from 5k to 10k then to Half Marathon and then the big step up to a Full Marathon 26.2 miles, I'll be posting regular updates on how the training is progressing but you too can play a role.

Please donate what you can and ensure to share this page with all your family and friends to make sure we can raise as much money as possible for Teenage Cancer Trust and make a real difference to so many young lives!

Thank you x
