Story

Me (Molly Elliott), Paul Elliott, Aaron Clifton and Jay Searle will be taking on the challenge of running the 2022 London Marathon. Our main motivation for choosing Macmillian to raise money for and represent in the Marathon is that they were the charity that looked after our Grandad and Father-in-law. On the 21st of December 2018, our Baccy, as some of his grandchildren called him, was diagnosed with Mesothelioma, a terminal form of asbestos related cancer. As a family we were absolutely devastated as we never thought something like this would happen to us. Unfortunately, on the 25th of November 2019, we lost our hero to this cruel disease.

Baccy never let this disease change who he was until he was physically unable to, he truly was and will always be our hero. He was the glue of our family and without him here, there will always be an empty space. These last 2 years without him here have been very hard and challenging but we have all pulled together as we know that is what he would have wanted us to do. We all know that he’s always looking down on us and we hope we’re making him proud up there.

All four of us have decided to come together to raise money for this incredible charity who were there for our family and our Grandad through the toughest of times. It’s the least we could do to say thank you.
