Story
I run this every year in memory of three very important people. My grandmothers, Amelia and Carmen, and my great uncle Javier.
My grandma Carmelita died when I was very young so the impact wasn't as hard. When one is a child, we don't realize how bad things actually are because our parents try to shield us from the bad in the world.
With my grandma Amelia, it was a whole different story. The hardest thing i have ever had to do is see her go through her radiation therapy and see what it was doing to her. There was nothing we could do to help her; I felt useless, angry, frustrated and sad. Even after 5 years, I still feel like there should have been something more I could do to at least ease her pain.
That's when I decided to start running the race for life.( and anyone that knows me personally will know that this is a big struggle for me because I am the worst and laziest runner in the world). I believe that with the little money I raise, one day Cancer Research UK will beat cancer and millions of people will be spared the pain and suffering that this disease causes.
What most people don't know is that this disease is as hard on the people who love them as it is on the patient.
