Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Breakthrough Breast Cancer will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
As many of you will know my wife, Maureen, died of breast cancer in march 2006. She was diagnosed shortly after our first daughter, Lisa, was married in 2002. She was able to be at the wedding of our second daughter, Laura, in 2005. Unfortunately she will not be at the wedding of our third daughter, Joanne, in August 2008. She did see our first grandchild, Eilidh, born in 2004 but not our second, Anna, born June 2007 or our third,Struan, born August 2007. (My brother also has three daughters. We are a family that has lots of girls. Struan is the exception!)
It is difficult to put into words how much we all miss Maureen. The impact she had on those around her was great, not least throughher twelve years of teaching in the lower primary at Pierowall Junior High School, Westray, Orkney. With her caring and mumsy character she helped ease into school a large number of Westray children.
Maureen was passionate about finding causes and cures for breast cancer. Large sums were raised at both Maureen's funeral and her memorial service. Joanne took part in the Moonwalk for Breakthrough Breast Cancer in London in June. To help fund the continuing research that is needed to tackle cancer I am going to take part in a Charity Challenge bike ride in Vietnam in November 2008. The aim is to cycle 450 kms over twelve days.
Please donate generously.
