Story
I'm taking part in The White Collar Fight Club event in aid of CALM, on 17 March 2023 Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is a charity united against suicide. This means standing up to feeling shit, standing up to stereotypes, and standing together to show that life is always worth living. It only costs £8 for CALM to answer a potentially lifesaving call or webchat. Your support will help CALM continue to be there for anyone who needs them. CALM is there for everyone struggling with life, no matter who they are, where they're from or what they're going through. Whether that be mental health issues, debt, addiction, job loss, divorce, homelessness, they've got your backs.
I felt like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders and one day I simply crumbled with so much emotion (mostly tears) when someone cared enough to ask me “are you okay?”.
I didn’t want to admit what was wrong and I didn’t know how to change it, it was not in my nature to expose a vulnerable side.
Most of us have fought loneliness, a level of depression, health issues and anxiety, and I didn’t think that applied to me, but it did, a few years ago compounded with the pandemic and diagnosed with transient osteoporosis. I just felt stuck.
I literally stumbled across boxing and this gave me an outlet for my mental health. For me, boxing is therapeutic and meditative which has significantly reduced my stress and anxiety. Along the way, from this amazing community, I’ve made new and everlasting friendships.
I am so passionate about this cause, opening up about your struggles can change lives and seen many people in the same boat, this solidified the reason for why I am fighting. Please donate to make a difference so there is the same level of treatment, professional help and access for everyone. I will do very best on the 17th March. Thank you.
