Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.  We are a group from Emmaus Brighton and Hove who foolishly thought it would be a good idea to walk the entire Pennine Way from Edale in Derbyshire to Kirk Yetholm in Scotland in just 10 days.  At 267 miles this trail is considered to be the toughest in the UK but we are all training hard to complete this challenge in August 2012.

We have decided to raise money for three causes:

Chestnut Tree House - Chestnut Tree House is the only children's hospice in Sussex and cares for children and young adults from 0-19 of age with progressive life-threatening illnesses from all over the county.  There are potentially 400 families with life-limited children in Sussex.  Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological support, care in breavement therapy, end of life and respite care and sibling support.  The hospice costs £2.5 million per year to run.

Clock Tower Sanctuary - The Sanctuary provides information, advice and support to young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who are homeless or insecurely housed.  Since they began in 1998, they have helped thousands of vulnerable young people - offering a friendly safe space, food and drink, access to computers and the internet, signposting to housing, health, education, employment and social services - as well as practical and emotional support to help young people get their lives back on track.

Emmaus Brighton and Hove - Emmaus enables people to move on from homelessness and social exclusion.  Companions, as residents are known, work full-time collecting and reselling donated goods.  This work helps support the Community financially and enables Companions to develop skills, rebuild their self-respect and help others in greater need.  They are offered an opportunity to rebuild personal relationships with family and friends and for those that need it a chance to break away from drug and alcohol dependency.  Emmaus helps Companions to regain their sense of dignity and self worth.  Companions receive a safe home and work environment, food, clothing and a small weekly allowance, but for many the greatest benefit is a fresh start.
