Mauritius - Global Alpha Training Event - April 2008
"Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness, come into his presence with singing. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his, we are his people and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name."
In April 2008, a team of 6 from Holy Trinity Brompton (Dane, Diego, Lindsay, Phil, Rebecca and Roki) will be going to Mauritius to run a four day Global Alpha Training (GAT) event. The overriding vision for the GAT programme is to "release Alpha expertise to train people in regions yet to run courses", and the event will cover training on how to run Alpha in the delegates' context, looking at ways to develop Alpha in Mauritius, and will allow plenty of time for blessing and refreshing by the Holy Spirit. The team are also keen to spend a couple of days getting involved with Mission work with a local Charity whilst there.
The trip is part of bigger vision run by Alpha for 60 teams to run 80 training events in 35 countries training up 9,000 delegates to run 2,400 courses with the direct impact of Alpha courses being started resulting in 72,000 lives being changed, because God is mighty to save and nothing is too small for him! Take a look at the video on http://www.alphafriends.org
The team will be visiting and working with the Mauritius SOS Children’s Village in Beau Bassin- a charity organisation which offers a new permanent home for abandoned, orphaned and destitute children.
There are around 130 children up to the ages of 14-15 who are cared for in family houses each with an SOS mother.
Their mission statement is:
We build families for children in need.
We help them shape their own futures.
We share in the development of their communities.
The team needs to fundraise around £9,000 to cover flights and other travel costs, immunisations, accommodation and food and everything else, so every prayer and penny would be gratefully received.
Many thanks for your support.
