Alpha House Calderdale is a registered charity providing housing, intensive support and a structured day programme for men with complex needs including mental health, offending and addiction issues.

Fran is a retired probation officer and the founder of Alpha House who saw the need for this provision and was inspired by God to do something about it. 

Alpha House began supporting two residents 10 years ago and now our amazing staff and volunteers work with 30 residents at different stages in their recovery.

Fran ran the London marathon in 2011 and 2014 to promote and raise money for the charity but has had to pass on the baton due to dodgy knees and general creakiness!

Melissa from Stainland Lions Running Club (SLRC) has agreed to run (walk, crawl, roll… whatever it takes) and support us in fundraising for this worthy cause. SLRC is one of the largest running clubs in the area with over 350 members of all abilities and ages.

10% of money raised will go to Cancer Research UK, one of her favourite charities because 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime and that is just a very sad statistic.
