Miracles is a UK children’s charity supporting families living in poverty and helping them through crisis situations such as serious illness. We work with referral agencies such as children's hospitals (Great Ormond Street, Royal Marsden and the Homerton), charities like CLIC Sargent, social workers, schools, Citizens Advice and women’s refuges. We offer a 24-hour rapid response so that our support is there when families need it – when it can really make a difference. We offer three support programmes: - Crisis funding – 24-hour turnaround – practical and rapid support for families who have no one else to turn to. Mainly for families with children in hospital – we help with travel, accommodation, washing machines, fridges, cookers, bedding and everything else to help get them through the crises and out the other side. - Respite breaks – for families with children recovering from or undergoing treatment for serious illness. A break can make all the difference in recovery helping to bring the family back together after a traumatic prognoses and long treatment regime. - Feed London – our response to the crippling food poverty crises in London – we delivering essential food boxes stuffed with enough ingredients for 6+ meals, recipes, supermarket vouchers and creative kits for children – all at the start of the school holidays when hunger is at its worst.

Story

Dear friends,

Believe it or not this heavy-weight is determined to finish his first next Sunday in ! I'm extremely excited about the race but more deeply about having the opportunity to raise money for an extremely powerful and dynamic NGO called Miracles (www.miraclesthecharity.org) run, amongst other talented individuals, through my friends Silvia and Rafa Gil-Alberdi. No matter how is your situation at the moment please don't forget that you are always in a position to help others and sometimes, as it’s the case now, it is just a click away!

I'll be thinking of you all during my tough time on the race but be sure that even racing a single mile is worth it if it helps to return a smile to those helpless kids

Many thanks for your contribution and see you all soon

Álvaro
