Event: Tough Mudder 5K East London - Stratford, on 23 March 2018
We support young people around the world to confront the planet's most urgent crises

Story

Recently I have been selected to volunteer with Raleigh
International
on a Nicaragua expedition for 5 weeks where
I will be taking part in a water, sanitation and higiene project in the region of Matagalpa. My participation in such an exciting trip would not have been posible without the opportunity provided by my company VolkerFitzpatrick, from VolkerWessels UK, who through their partnership and common vision of inspiring young people to drive sustainable development, have made this journey possible.

One of my targets as a volunteer is to raise a minimum of
£800 to help fund this project and contribute to the improvement of the
Matagalpa community and their locals' lives. So o
n the 8th April I will be running my second obstacle race (out of the three I have challenged myself to do) called Spartan Race which will take place in Kent. I will have the chance to get down and dirty on the mud whilst completing a series of obstacles. Not only that, but some of my work colleagues have shown their solidarity and have teamed up to complete this challenge with me. We will be calling ourselves the "Engineering Lizards", where we will run for the charity Raleigh International.

I have never done one of this challenge before because I never really had the guts to do so. However Raleigh Interational has made me realise that stepping out of my comfort zone to achieve a goal which will have such a beneficial impact on poor commnunities, is the best of the motivations and the most fulfulling feeling there is.

I feel like there is no better cause to get cold and muddy, so I would greatly appreciate if you could help us by sponsoring this challenge. All donations will be transferred directly to the charity Raleigh International and will help fund the water, sanitation and hygiene project for the community of Matagalapa. This project includes building water systems to create access to safe drinking water and delivering sessions to the communities on sanitation and higiene.

Every little donation will help to make a difference to the community of Matagalpa, so please follow the JustGiving link bellow and donate and share if you are interested in sponsoring this challenge and making a difference. Even though the target is set on £800, the more we manage to gather the bigger impact will make to the Matagalpa community, so lets make it happen!
