On April 25th 2015, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal near the capital city of Kathmandu, the worst of its kind in over 80 years. 9,000 people were killed, and a further 23,000 injured.

Story

At the end of February I am joining the All Hands Volunteers team in Nepal, helping to rebuild a school in the Nuwakot area.

The earthquakes that hit Nepal in 2015 caused complete devastation throughout the country, especially in many of the smaller villages. It is heartbreaking to think of the loss and suffering that people experienced and that 2 years on, In a country that has little means to redevelop, the effects are still so apparent. Many villages are still without schools, meaning that children are missing out on such a vital part of their childhood. All Hands Volunteers are now focusing on getting the children of Nepal back to school.

I feel extremely lucky to be able to join the team and lend a hand to this amazing project. I will be living and working in Nepal for a month, helping in any way that I can.  In addition to physically helping to rebuild,  I aim to use my time to raise funding and awareness of this extremely worthwhile cause. You too can help...by sponsoring me :-) I will be funding my trip so your sponsorship will be going directly to the project itself.

I will be sending regular updates through my blog so you can see what we are up to :-)
