My father (Nazir Kassam), nephew (Amaan Sadiq) and I are raising money for the Aga Khan Foundation to help the people of North-East Afghanistan prepare for drastic climate change.They live in rural areas that already experience a harsh climate. And scientists predict that conditions will become more volatile as climate change continues. Heat waves, floods, droughts and other extreme weather are responsible for property destruction, crop failure, erosion of farmland and loss of life.They have few resources to mitigate the impact of climate change and need specialist help.AKF has partnered with the European Commission to help prepare people in North-East Afghanistan for drastic climate change: protecting crops, water sources and livelihoods for 60,000 families - around 420,000 people.
