Story
My mum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 50, which had a profound impact on our family.
As her condition progressed, I took on the role of her carer when I was just 17 years old. This responsibility meant helping her with daily tasks, providing emotional support, and balancing my caring duties with university, work and my own personal development.
Becoming a young carer taught me resilience, patience, and compassion, and gave me a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals living with long-term health conditions and the families who support them.
This has made me want to walk for Parkinson’s UK to help raise money to hopefully one day find a cure.
