The story of us and Alzheimer started with our grandmother when she was diagnosed 16 years ago. She has lost all ability to remember people and things. She does not speak anymore and barely moves without help. 

Alzheimer is one of the saddest diseases we have ever experienced. Every single time we talked to our grandma about what we are doing now or how much we miss her, she looks at us with emptiness in her eyes. It is like she is there. But she is not there.

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

We are running for people who have dementia, like my  grandma. We are also running for all of those who have been affected by Alzheimer, like we have.
