James's Summit Attempt Ama Dablam (6812m)

Summit Attempt Ama Dablam (6812m) · 8 November 2018
I have always been a keen mountaineer and rock climber and believe that outdoor challenges have great health benefits. My mother was diagnosed with Dementia a few years ago and she has received great support from GADS. Some of the symptoms related to Dementia are similar to the impact of being at high altitude, so when I decided to climb Ama Dablam it seemed like a good idea to do it in support GADS. Ama Dablam is a mountain in the Nepalese, Himalaya and whose summit sits at 6812 meters, with relatively technical sections it will take a few weeks to get to the top. It will entail setting up base camp and then acclimatizing to the conditions by setting up camps 2 and 3 before the summit bid. Training for this endeavour is a challenge in itself.
