Running for Brigstowe ( Bristol)

London Marathon 2018 · 22 April 2018 ·
“I’m running the London Marathon for Brigstowe!".
Brigstowe support some of the most marginalized and vulnerable members of our community in Bristol. All funds raised will go towards much needed HIV specialist services.
I have been passionate about Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic ( BAME) women’s health for as long as I can remember, in particular, those from working class backgrounds ( I wrote my MSc dissertation on the intersections of inequality with a focus on ethnicity, gender and class) . I was raised in St Paul’s in Bristol and left school at 15 ( whilst in LA Care) to have my first child before embarking on a career in health after completing an access course. I know how essential it is for Bristol to have organisations that understand the multiple challenges and barriers people can face in life in general and in achieving good health and wellbeing ,accessing health services, housing and other types of support ( such as emotional wellbeing) .
Raising £2000 would help to ensure that Brigstowe’s Campaigns Service could: continue empowering HIV+ people to advocate for the needs of their community and represent those who don’t feel they have a voice; and educating other organisations and community groups.
Raising more than £2000 would mean that in addition to the above Brigstowe could also run dedicated campaigns and education initiatives for BAME and other marginalized communities, ensuring everyone has access to the services and information they need.
