Medical Aid for Palestinians works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees.

Story

Georgette was born into a wealthy Maronite Christian family in Jaffa in the period of the British Mandate in Palestine and enjoyed a happy childhood and upbringing in a large extended close knit community.

Georgette, together with her British husband and 2 young children had to flee in 1948 leaving everything behind with her entire family dispersing to all corners of the world.  She ended up in England with 3 children and was sadly widowed in her mid-thirties; however despite her upbringing not preparing her for the adversities which she faced - and overcame - she never lost her love of life and children - nor of Palestine.

She appreciated that she had been lucky and felt great empathy for the continued plight of Palestinians whose medical needs can be compromised as a result of the on-going conflict in the region.  It is for these reasons that she chose Medical Aid for Palestinians for donations to be made in lieu of flowers on her passing.

Georgette was a truly remarkable woman, very modern in outlook, with a wonderful sense of humour; she is greatly loved by her family, and whilst she will be very missed she will never be forgotten.

"And ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation."   Khalil Gibran; 1883-1931
