Story

SPONSORED BIKE RIDE - LAND'S END to JOHN O'GROATS via IRELAND

Bob Gilbey and three others - Terry Philpott, Rory Garden and Nick Weeks - will be setting off on a huge challenge of cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats, via Ireland.

They will start on 25th May 2013, with 5 days in the West Country, then 3 days in Wales before catching the Holyhead ferry to Dublin, followed by 3 days in Ireland.  From there they will catch the Ballycastle ferry to Cambletown and on to 9th June - Hurray! - they make it, safely we hope, to John O'Groats.  Five countries and nearly a 1,000 miles!

Bob Gilbey will be raising funds in memory of his daughter, Catherine (Catie), who was killed in a riding accident 7 years ago.

The Mark Davies Injured Rider's Fund was started in 1988 by Michael and Jane Davies, who lost their son Mark, in a fatal eventing fall.  Since its inception the Fund has provided well over a million pounds' worth of help to injured riders and their families in need.  They rely on voluntary donations and fund raising to help those injured in horse related accidents where otherwise there would be none.  They appreciate every donation, whatever the amount.
