Story
On the 6th of September 2004, my husband Lee was given a diagnosis which would change our lives forever. He was told that he was suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. He was 34 years old. As if having been diagnosed with MS wasn't bad enough, he was told he had the Primary Progressive type. The type which normally affects people in their 50s, for which there was no treatment, nothing that would change the course of the disease. It was devastating, unbelievable news. We had a young family, we had so many plans, how would we cope? It has been a rollercoaster ride for all 4 of us. MS effects all members of the family both physically and mentally. Lee is now severely disabled and has carers throughout the day. The MS society have been a great support to Lee and our family offering help and advice. They even provided a ramp so that we could keep our caravan on for longer.
Life has been tough. None of us know what life has in store for us. With MS it's best not to focus too much on what might happen but to spend your time and energy in a more positive way on something that is important to you right now!
By completing this skydive, I will be raising money for the MS society with the money donated going towards fellow families like ours with loved ones who suffer with the disease, towards increasing the numbers of MS nurses and to facilitate research.
