Great North Run 2022 · 11 September 2022 ·
My Grandma and Grandad lived a couple of minutes away from the hospice for most of my life and always supported The Prince of Wales Hospice. I learnt from an early age how much the charity relies on donations to continue to provide the amazing care that they do.
My husband is a keen runner and has always taken part in events, raising thousands of pounds for charities, including The Prince of Wales Hospice. Our son decided he too would raise money for PWH during lockdown and was overjoyed to be presented with a Hospice Heroes award in recognition of his fantastic fundraising. They make me extremely proud.
This year has been the hardest yet. It has taught me that you never know what is around the corner, life as you know it can change instantly. It has reminded me to be grateful and to always help others when you can.
The main men in my life have inspired me to have a go at doing just that myself. For the first time, I’ll be running rather than supporting on the sidelines. I am not a natural runner, and this will be the biggest physical challenge of my life, but I will make it over that finish line!
To say I am nervous is an understatement, but I am also very excited to take part in a wonderful event and have the opportunity to raise essential funds for an amazing charity that is very close to my heart. Thank you Stu for running with me and sacrificing your usual finish time. I know you will support and encourage me every step of the way!
Times are tough at the moment, but please, if you are able to, donate what you can. It is for very worthy cause.
Thank you so much 😊
