Story
We all love a cuddle. They’ve been shown to ease anxiety, release feel-good hormones, support pain relief and promote better sleep – but when your loved one is seriously ill a cuddle can mean even more.
Gill McMullen was like a sister to me. She was funny, quirky, had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up a room. When we found out she had cancer our hearts broke. Gill being Gill though, sent me her thanks for encouraging her to stop smoking more than 15 years before as it had given her those extra years!
Gill fought hard but in the end the cancer won. Gill was happy at Pilgrims Hospice and I was so upset to hear that Tony and Gill didn’t have the opportunity of a spending their last few days together in a cuddle bed I had never heard of a cuddle bed but it made perfect sense to me! Shouldn’t they be available to everyone?
I’m trying to help Tony raise money to provide another cuddle bed, for other people going through what they did. Thank you so much for listening
