Story

We are running the London Marathon to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. We are delighted to be the Cranleigh School part of ‘Going for Gold’ with our team captain and first time marathon runner Steve Batchelor.

Steve won gold at the 1988 Olympics. He famously assisted Imran Sherwani for the winning goal and inspired the legendary response from Barry Davies on commentary: 'Where were the German's, frankly who cares?!'
Imran has now unfortunately been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. There will be a team of 8 taking on the marathon including Imran’s son Zac.

We all have family and friends who have lost their battle with Alzheimer’s. Amanda will be remembering her much loved Auntie Marion who died at 70,  Tracy is running especially for her mother-in -law Margaret who is currently suffering with Alzheimer’s and Claudia her much loved Grandma.

Anything that you give will be very much appreciated.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
