Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 13th October I am running the Birmingham Half Marathon for the Rose Peters Foundation.
The Rose Peters Foundation was set up earlier this year following the death of my Great-Niece, Rose. Rose was born on 11th February 2019 but sadly only lived for 12 days due to lung condition that was fatal.
Rose spent all of her short life in the paediatric intensive care at Birmingham Children's Hospital and whilst for the majority of the time she was sedated, and required the support of a number of machines and drugs to keep her alive there was one magical day when she was quite awake and responsive. Her parents Hannah and Jamie were able, with the help of the PICU staff, to do some 'crafts' with her, foot and hand prints, allowing them to really interact with their child and helping to make a terrible situation slightly more bearable for them.
After Rose died, on 23rd February, Hannah and Jamie decided to set up a foundation in her name. The aim is to provide support to other families going through the awful loss of a child and also, amongst other things, provide art supplies to the Birmingham Children's Hospital to enable other parents to have the the experience they did on that magical Sunday.
Running for 13.1 miles is the least I can do to help support Hannah and Jamie to keep Rose's memory alive and if you are able to donate to this lovely cause we as a family would really appreciate it. Thank you xx
