Story
I have been visiting and supporting the Amani Centre in Morogoro for almost 10 years. Amani Morogoro is an organisation supporting children with learning difficulties and/or physical disabilities.
There are three Centres; in Mvomero they have the Special School for the Deaf; at Mikese they have the farm where they grow crops and keep animals, and in Chamwino, the main Centre, they offer care to the whole community, through its daycare, physiotherapy and outreach programmes.
Their aim is to become self-sufficient, and there are various income generating projects, and the animals make an important contribution. At the Special School, the last chicken house was destroyed in the recent storms during the rainy season. They need to build a strong brick unit for between 100 and 150 chickens; a cow will provide milk for the children.
I am returning to Amani Morogoro in September and hope to be able to, with your help, get the hen house started, and go and buy a cow....
