Florence Marathon · 27 November 2022

Approximately 312,000 children are separated from a parent by a prison sentence every year in the UK. There is currently no statutory framework in place designed to support, or even identify, these children. We are the only UK charity dedicated to supporting this isolated and stigmatised group of young people in their own communities, supporting 225 children last year alone. Our specialised staff work with families to create a tailored package of support. We offer 1-1 support with trained staff, volunteer mentoring, parent support, peer support groups for children, online activities for children, and activity days.

Story

We are all attempting the Florence marathon at the end of November to raise money for Children Heard and Seen, a local charity to us based in Oxfordshire that provides essential support for children suffering from parental imprisonment.

Currently 65% of children with a convicted parent go on to offend themselves. However with the right support this can be prevented. The charity offers support in a number of different ways including counselling, residential camps and groups where the children can express themselves without fear of being judged.
