Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit the Shrimpers Trust’s JustGiving page in preparation for our forthcoming sponsored walk when we will trek from Southend United’s ground at Roots Hall Southend, to The Valley, London SE7 home of League 1 local rivals Charlton Athletic.

Through supporter membership and fund raising the Trust provides sponsorship to Southend United’s Youth department and will also donate money for specific items required by the Club, recent purchases including equipment for the Physiotherapy department. We are always keen to wherever appropriate increase our investment in the Club by partnering other important causes. We see Southend United Football Club as being an important part of the town and surrounding area.

We want to play an important role within the local community and as part of this commitment on Saturday 8th April 2017 twelve Trust members/supporters together with Southend United’s Commercial Director, Danny Macklin will be walking the 35.7 miles to the away game between Southend United and Charlton Athletic, to raise funds for the Trust and Little Havens Hospice, with 100% of the Donations made on this page going to Little Havens. We will be setting off from Roots Hall Football Stadium at the ridiculous hour of 11pm on the Friday.

Little Havens Hospice is located in beautiful meadowland in Thundersley, just outside of Rayleigh in Essex.

Whether they care for a child or young person for years, months, weeks or even just hours, they make a real difference to their life.

If a family have a child or young person who has a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, Little Havens Hospice can help. They are here to make the journey as comfortable as possible, by offering planned respite stays, managing symptoms, for example controlling pain and adjusting medications and caring for children at the end of their lives.

At Little Havens, they look after the whole family which may include emotional or educational support for the child’s siblings, counselling for parents, grandparents and carers or assistance with social issues.

We do hope that you will sponsor us for our walk. You can either make a
donation in support of the whole team’s efforts or alternatively sponsor a specific walker. The choice is yours-- we really don’t mind!
