Tough Mudder London West 2022 · 21 May 2022 to 22 May 2022 ·

1 in 3 people globally do not have a waste management service and have no option but to burn or dump their waste, much of it ending up in the oceans. We share waste management and recycling skills that help people to help themselves from poverty, improve public health, and protect the environment

Story

Hi 👋

I am Amelie, 30ish years old French living in London.

In 2022, I set myself to do what I can do to help WasteAid, a charity I was introduced by Zumo. They’re small nimble with high impact - they’ve embraced decentralisation to ensure the donation get straight to the people who need it.

Below is our story, and what we’re doing to fundraise - wonder what my dad has to do with it? Well keep reading.

Two challenges

  • Getting my dad involved, 16Km in the mud.
  • A team challenge with Zumo, to cycle 4000km in 6 weeks.

Challenge 1: 16Km obstacle course in the mud with my dad

It’s the 4th tough mudder for me, but for my dad, it’s his first.

I don’t know what he will be laughing green at, realising it’s 16K in the mud he got himself in by visiting me in England… or that I have put this photo of him playing dad’s joke with my phone.

My dad and I we laugh together. A silly sense of humour. He called me once at 6am just to wake me up - so the next day I called him at midnight to wake him up.

When I asked him if he would be up to do something between daughter and father. He said to piss off he wouldn’t run in the mud. The joke, however is real. We’re doing it :)

We’re competitive, really competitive so that tough mudder will be fun 😂

It’ll be a challenge - but all worth it for WasteAid. We only have one life, and only have one planet.

Challenge 2: Team cycling

My second challenge, my colleague Joanne and I have got the whole team at Zumo to chip in and challenge themselves. As a team, we’re raising £4000. We’ve all divided in groups to challenge ourselves, I picked the cycling challenge - we’re a group of 6 and want to do 4000 miles in 6 weeks. That’s a LOT!

We’d love your support, every donation goes to local communities in Africa to fight climate change, and malnutrition - which is linked to one overlooked problem: waste management.
