CMN Teens O2 Climb · 25 September 2021 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Amelie and I was born with a large Congenital Melanocytic Naevus (CMN birthmark) on my left leg. The charity Caring Matters Now supports lots of people with birthmarks like mine, by providing important information about CMN birthmarks, organising events where people can meet others with CMN, and promoting the charity in many different ways.
I want to do the O2 Climb to give back to Caring Matters Now as they have supported me for so many years. They funded research about the cause of CMN, and now fund the ongoing research for its treatment. Caring Matters Now is such an important charity to me, and the money you donate will help so many people with CMN. Thank you so much for any donations you can make.
A message from all the teens taking part in the O2 Climb:
We are a team of teenagers with Congenital Melanocytic Naevus (CMN) and we are challenging ourselves to climb the rooftop of the O2 Arena and at the same time raise vitals funds for Caring Matters Now.
Caring Matters Now is a very small but hugely worthwhile charity, and one close to our hearts; Caring Matters Now is the only UK dedicated charity that supports people affected by Congenital Melanocytic Naevi (CMN), a rare disorder affecting the skin and brain.
CMN is an association of dark brown/black birthmarks (moles) which can cover up to 80% of the body.
CMN are mostly untreatable and carry an increased risk of malignant melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.
CMN syndrome is the association of these moles with neurological problems including brain tumours, spinal tumours, developmental complications, fluid on the brain and/or characteristic facial features.
Caring Matters Now has provided valuable support to us all as we have grown up with CMN and we want to give something back.
We are keen to raise funds to continue the ongoing support provided to families affected by CMN and to fund research to try to develop treatments for CMN, including the neurological complications and the devastating, fatal malignant melanoma.
