Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

UPDATE 07.02.20

My original plan was to do a 10k but that was thwarted by my knee issue in September.

A few weeks' rest and I completed the Kelpies Supernova 5k on 10th Nov around the fabulous mythical Kelpies sculptures at night, completely pain free!

After a busy winter, and about to embark on training for mission 2, I BROKE MY TOE walking barefoot into a solid metal foot stool leg 2 weeks ago!
.
Frustratingly, this means another 4-6 week delay! But I WILL complete this challenge in memory of my Dad

This Just Giving page is still open and donations are still being accepted so you can still support a cause close to my heart by donating right here.

Thankyou to all who have kindly donated so far. It means a lot. To this date, I've raised £528 so far with Gift Aid included and would love to make it to £1,000.
.
Mission 2 TBC when I'm pain free (again)!

UPDATE 22.10.19

I've entered the Kelpies Supernova 5k on Sunday 10th November!

I'm hoping that I will not have any issues with my knee(s). I'm going to cover 5k initially and then aim for another 5k shortly after (to make up for the 10k I couldn't participate in last month).

All donations for Kidney Research UK still gratefully received.

Thanks everyone for your support. Just hoping my knees support me!!!

Wish me luck.

UPDATE 28.09.19

I have an update to my event...

Unfortunately I'm postponing running the Great Scottish Run 10k.

My recent knee injury is still not 100% gone and I have decided to hold off a little longer to ensure that I don't set myself back with injury again. I've had a 4 week gap in training which is significant for me, having not done much running for a long time.

I'm gutted, but it's not all bad because I will be doing an alternative 10k soon (event details tbc). And now I have a little more time to train, and a bit more time to raise even more funds for Kidney Research UK.

I am really grateful for all the donations received so far. Thankyou so much for your support in my challenge.

...............................................................................................................

On Sunday 29th September I am going to run The Great Scottish Run '10k' to raise money for Kidney Research UK.

Kidney Research UK is the leading UK charity funding research into the causes, treatment and prevention of kidney disease. Kidney disease is known as a 'silent killer'. Currently in the UK there are over 3 million people with it and there is no cure.

This charity means a lot to myself and my family as my Dad passed away aged only 66, on 14th October, almost 10 years ago after a long illness that stemmed from polycystic kidney disease.

I haven't run for several years since starting a family, and then launching my business, so I'll be starting from scratch again. It's going to be a transition from my usual focus of 'deadline' ...  to ...  'finish line'. Can you see what I did there?!

I only have 7 weeks to train! However, I have a secret weapon called David White, owner of David White Running Fitness as my coach and I am confident I will be able do this! It's a double challenge because not only will I be starting my journey back to fitness, I'll be aiming to raise as much money as I can for such a worthy cause. I know it can help so many families.

Every year around 60,000 people with kidney failure are alive today because of the advances in research that Kidney Research UK have directly contributed to. This means more and more patients and their families have the chance of living a normal life.

Thankyou so much for any contribution you can make to this deserving charity.
