Misscarriage Awareness Jump · 30 July 2019

We’re here to inform, support and advocate for everyone affected by pregnancy loss. Miscarriage, ectopic and molar pregnancy can be a deeply distressing and difficult experience, and everyone who experiences pregnancy loss and its impact should get the understanding, care and support they need.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Amy began bleeding at 7 weeks pregnant due to having a Sub-chronic Hematoma (it occurs in 3.1% of pregnancies and is the most common cause of bleeding in the first trimester).

We had a scan at 7 & 8 weeks, where we saw the baby and heartbeat and everything looked as it should.

Unfortunately, on 1/01/2019 we lost the baby who would have been due on 2/08/2019.

We haven’t had the best experience with the hospital we were with & found support from The Miscarriage Association.

They have so much useful information on there website which really helped as googling just seems to give you different answers.

When we had questions or concerns we emailed The Miscarriage Association and at times heard back from them within 20 minutes!! When speaking to them over the phone you are not treated as just another patient, they show empathy and understanding.

Miscarriage is a hard thing to talk about and when it happened to us we had many thoughts, what did we do wrong? Why us? What could we have done differently?

Since we’ve opened up to Friends and Family we have found it is more common than you really think, it’s just not something that is spoken about.

Miscarriage is the most common kind of pregnancy loss, affecting around 1 in 4 pregnancies.

We want to share our story to make others aware of this and to give something back to The Miscarriage association as they need funds in order to maintain and develop its support and information services to those who have lost a baby.
