Peak District Ultra Challenge 2024 · 6 July 2024 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Every 3 minutes someone in the UK dies from a heart or circulatory disease. That’s 170,000 families losing their loved ones much sooner than they should.

It’s still hard to believe that I know first hand how devastating this can be. Last year, my amazing mum was taken from us suddenly and without warning. In an extra cruel twist, it was on the same day I gave birth to her second grandchild, who she would have adored just as much as her first!

On the 6th July, armed with an epic playlist and as many plasters as we can carry, we will be hiking 100km across the Peak District in (hopefully!) under 24 hours.

We are hoping to raise as much money as possible to keep families together for longer, to keep grandparents in our little one’s lives as long as possible- because they are very much irreplaceable. The British Heart Foundation knows that, while people aren’t replaceable, parts of the heart can be. They fund research to “diagnose, treat and repair your heart. So you can continue making memories with the people you love”.

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps. We know that things are tight at the minute but even if you have just a couple of pounds to spare, we would be so grateful. And if you don't (and even if you do!) please take some time to complete this brilliant CPR training that the BHF has created.
