A little about me- I'm a paediatric nurse working at Great Ormond Street Hospital. I like to think I'm relatively fit, but I don't run. I really don't.
So midway through a night shift, after talking about this race, I decided to sign up to my first ever half marathon. Actually my first ever run longer than a 5k charity jog.
I might sound crazy. After doing some research into the London Landmarks Half Marathon, and Tommy's- the charity behind this new half marathon, I have been given the incredible opportunity to run for them!
Tommy's charity is dedicated to researching miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth. As it stands, one in four women will lose a child during pregnancy or birth. As a children's nurse, I see first hand the fight that children have to go through to survive. Every child has a right to live, and to have a healthy and happy future. This fight starts during pregnancy for some of those children, and it is devastating to think that many children do not even get to see the world.
So why sponsor me? I am dedicated to achieving my goal (not to mention stubborn as hell) and have set my mind on finishing this race, in one piece. I am training relentlessly to make sure I am able to run this race, in memory of the babies that haven't made it, and for all the babies yet to face their fight.
