Story
Hello Lovely People,
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. Let me explain to you why I'll be running my first ever marathon!
Not everyone has the best start in life and not everyone has the skills and education we might take for granted. For the past three years I have been volunteering with the Surrey Care Trust as a mentor to young people. Each weekend I spend an hour with a young person to listen and support them. Surrey isn't all leafy lanes and long driveways! Setbacks in life such as illness, addiction, family breakdown and unemployment can leave people facing hardship and needing to learn new skills and rebuild confidence.
The Surrey Care Trust is a charity that provides learning, training and mentoring to support young people and adults in improving their chances in life.
Running the London Marathon is daunting (OK I'm terrified) but I'm giving it my best shot.....I've given up booze until after the race and embarked on a 16 week training plan....your support would mean a lot to me.
Don't live in Surrey, wonder why you should donate? I believe that the wider community also gains when people are better equipped to make a positive contribution to society.
Please donate whatever you can afford to this worthwhile cause. All sponsorship will go directly to the Surrey Care Trust.
Thank you for your support!
Amy xx
