Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. It began as a bit of a joke but we are doing it for real and would love your support!
Amy - I hopped on my bike and whizzed round Holme Pierrepont for a few laps and it immediately became clear what my challenge for 2018 was going to be. I got on the phone to Leanne to ask if she fancied a C2C cycle and from that day it was on! This conversation was in September and only in December, when we began researching the Coast2coast cycle in more detail, did we find out what we had let ourselves in for! Prostate Cancer UK is a charity close to my heart, in 2015 my Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Although clear of cancer now, the terrible disease will never leave us as a family and will continue to cause suffering for others. Thank you in advance for your support.
Linzi - After joining a group of friends on a Charity Ride in June 2014 from Claypole (Newark) to Hull hospital and back in aid of the local Air Ambulance - I have not often hopped on my bike since and as Leanne would say 'very much in my infancy as a rider' so of course as soon as I heard whispers of the pair doing the C2C cycle between the Irish Sea and the North Sea, over 135 miles, inclusive of climbing the Pennines, known as 'the roof of England' - I momentarily had a 'blip' in normal reasoning and jumped on board for the challenge. If however that 'blip' in normal reasoning helps create any positive reaction to supporting the Prostate Cancer UK Charity it will make every minute spent on the bike between now and May worthwhile. Our family has battled and survived one prostate cancer diagnosis and sadly lost another life through a battle with Cancer that started as a prostate cancer diagnosis. To be in a position to do something to support a Charity that supports so many others in that position makes me immensely proud. Thanks in advance for any support you can give!
Leanne - I love challenging myself and doing as much as I can to help others which is why I agreed to take on this Charity ride. I should mention though that the idea of 135 miles across the Pennines terrifies me right now! As like Linzi, I first purchased a road bike to complete a Charity Ride in June 2014 and since then it has gathered much dust in my garage and had little use since. Cancer affects so many people including family and friends close to me. I am proud to be in a position that I am able to do a little something to help raise money for a cause so close to us all. Thank you for any support that you can give us in raising for a this great cause.
