Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know my brain tumour diagnosis came the same week as I found out that I was pregnant. The whole of my pregnancy was a rollercoaster of emotions and my surgery and treatment was postponed to ensure the safe arrival of my little girl and to allow me time to bond before my operation.
Without much needed research, my operation could have been a lot different. Until 2016, my tumour was operated on in a way which could result in life changing problems with speech and walking amongst other things. Due to research my operation was a lot less intrusive than it could have been and has only left me with deafness in one ear and some partial nerve damage in my face. This is a very small price to pay for the fact that I am here to tell my tale and to try and help Brain Tumour Research to raise awareness and much needed funding to help many others that are sadly effected by brain tumours.
I never thought it would happen to me but sadly 16,000 people each year are diagnosed with a brain tumour and only 20% of patients survive beyond five years of their diagnosis. The funding is vital to try to ensure that more patients survive beyond their diagnosis.
Following my experience, I really wanted to do something to try to help the cause. I will be completing a 10km walk to try and raise much needed funds for this charity to try to help the research to continue. I have set my target at £274, as this is 10% of the costs for one days research. I know this is a lot to achieve but please give what you can to try and help me to get as close to this amount as possible.
Thank you everyone, your support means more to me than you could ever imagine.
