Berlin Marathon 2023 · 24 September 2023 ·

In 2023 over 100 MS Superstar runners will take on the Berlin Marathon, to raise funds and awareness for the MS Society and to help stop MS. This is their team page.

Story

Thank you for visiting my page. I’ve decided to run another marathon and this time, Berlin, in September.  One of my goals is to complete the big 6 marathons which I’ve completed 3 of them (London, Chicago and Boston) for fun and the challenge. So, this time I’ve decided to raise money for this amazing charity MS Society.

Multiple Sclerosis is an immune-mediated disease. This means that an abnormal response of the body’s immune system causes the disease. In this case, the immune system attacks the central nervous system (CNS) by mistake. The CNS is made up of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves.

I apologise in advance for friends reading this and not aware that I was  diagnosed with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis, last year. It’s something I don’t generally bring up in conversation but maybe I should to bring awareness. I am very fortunate that I’m currently still able to run and do the physical activities I love and enjoy - so thought this would be the perfect opportunity to raise awareness and some money for this amazing charity.

MS is unpredictable and effects people in different ways which can be vision, weakness, balance, fatigue, cognitive, mobility problems, bladder, pain, depression and anxiety, numbness and speech are some of the main effects, but it can be anything  that is  controlled by the central nervous system. So far, it has mainly been my vision that’s been effected by MS which is currently stable, with some deficit due to nerve damage. It gets aggravated when body temperature raises, so makes my running a little more challenging.

Thank you in advance and any donations will be very much appreciated.
