Amy Draper is raising money for Cancer Research UK
Story
Hi everyone!
On Saturday 11th May, I will be completing a charity skydive to raise money for Cancer Research UK. I will be funding the skydive myself so all donations will be going to charity.
The reason I am throwing myself (realistically I will most likely be getting dragged) out of a plane for Cancer Research is for my wonderful mum who was last year told her cancer had returned and sadly is no longer curable.
In 2015, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. This obviously came as a huge shock to us all as, for some reason, you never think it will happen to you. My mum had to undergo many sessions of chemotherapy and radiotherapy followed by surgery to remove the cancer. We then received the news that everyone wants to hear - the cancer had gone!
However, last year we were told mum’s cancer has returned and has now also spread to her lymph nodes, the pleural between her lungs and also her liver meaning it is no longer curable. Since then, mum has also been in hospital with fluid on her lungs, pneumonia, blood clots and has now been told the cancer is in her hip as well.
Mum continues to inspire me every day and I’m so proud of how strong she is despite everything she’s been through and continues to go through. She is my role model and the best mum you could ever wish for.
I want to raise money to help anyone who is suffering with this awful disease so we can help beat it.
Any donations would be much appreciated and it would make me so happy to know I’m helping even just the tiniest bit!
