Fundraising for Sense International
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in aid of Sense International, the charity that supports the teaching of children who are both deaf and blind, to communicate with their parents and the world.
I will be swimming 5km in open water in Lake Windermere on 10th June as part of the Great North Swim. I am aiming to raise £5000. That is £1 for every meter I swim in the lake. It's going to be cold, it's going to be hard, a proper challenge, HELP ME RAISE THE MONEY!
Daryl and I have supported Sense International for the last 12 years, organising some splending treks in Romania, Outer Hebrides, Camino de Santiago and other events.
This year I have a special target, supporting the first year of a vocational training programme in Romania, to help the children who have benefitted so far to become independent in a commercial world.

This swim is also celebrating our dear Roxy whose 7th birthday would have been that weekend. A dog who would have swum to the end of the earth to help someone.
The difference your support will make
Sense International will provide a unique and innovative approach to offer 60 young people aged 16-25 with deafblindness the tools they need to search/identify a job.
- With your support, we will: Launch three projects designed to help 60 young people in Bucharest, Timisoara and Iasi to find a job, build their confidence, skills and knowledge
- Develop links between three vocational schools with 15 potential employers. At least three of which accepting apprenticeship training/employment
- Work with local bodies and special vocational schools to build a nationally replicable model to improve employment for people with disabilities
