Story
In June 2017 my lovely Nan was diagnosed with this awful disease. After her diagnosis, 9 members of my family, including my Nan at 81 years old completed the 10km Memory Walk in October 2017! We were all very very proud of her.
I felt I wanted to do a little more so signed up to the Reading Half Marathon in March 2018 to raise more money for Alzheimer’s Society which unfortunately got cancelled due to heavy snow. After all the training and people’s kind donations I felt I had some unfinished business so ran I the route the week after and also signed up to do the Southampton Half Marathon a month later. By this point, with a little help from my friend, I seemed to have got the bug for running and signed up and completed this years Reading Half Marathon.
After a chat one evening myself and my friend decided we wanted to take on a tough challenge to raise money for 2 charities very close to our hearts. We decided to scrap the idea of moving up to a full marathon and signed up to take part in the South Coast Challenge. A 100km Ultra Marathon on the 31st August 2019! Believe it or not, zero alcohol was consumed during the decision making!!!!
This is going to be mentally and physically tough and any donations, however big or small will be greatly appreciated by myself, my Nan and Alzheimer’s Society.
Thank you xxxx
